THE THINGS WE ENJOYED
Hoeffer Park is right downtown, which is a nice convenience as a place to stop and enjoy a snack while the kids burn a little energy.ย There are benches and a little picnic pavilion to rest your feet, and it’s located right near Victoria Park and some great little trails that can lead you down to the river at the gorge (be careful of the steep stairs!)
THE THINGS WE MISSED
The park is not cater to any accessibility needs, particularly as the whole thing is built in a sandbox.ย This makes for a rather messy and uncomfortable experience for those who do venture in.ย There is a little washing station for your feet, but that doesn’t really cut it.
There are no real swings, though there is a saucer swing which isn’t bad.
They recently installed a pretty sophisticated self-cleaning washroom; of the three times we’ve been by the park since they opened it, two of the times it was broken and out of order…love technology!
All in all, it’s not a bad park, but I would not go out of my way to explore it.ย Enjoy the surrounding trails and the gorge instead!
