It’s that time of year, the greatest of days,
When we cheer on the best, in so many ways.
There will be presents and picnics, and a few more surprises,
And we’ll tackle adventure, as it surely arises.
More excited than I, are my two lovely daughters,
They’ve been planning for months, those two little plotters.
I’m impressed, I must say, at the secrets they’ve kept,
Ahead of the fully-packed weekend they’ve prepped.
For it’s not just one day, no not in this house,
We take the whole weekend for their mom, and my spouse.
It will kick-off on Saturday, with a trip to the spa,
(but that’s just mommy-daughter, there was no room for pa).
And then after that, we’ll jump into the car,
For the next stop in mind is a little bit far.
It’s a place I’d not been to, but the girls were in sync,
With their plan to spend time at a dance-roller rink.
It’s a really cool place, with true retro-feels,
Where the tunes keep you moving, just as much as your wheels.
It’s these kind of gifts, that they know mom likes best,
A day of experience – an adventure, or quest!
When the music stops playing, it’s time we must go,
But that won’t be the end of adventuring, no!
The last stop that day, will be dinner with friends,
A backyard affair, before the day ends.
To cap off day one, with good food and laughs,
Is the perfectest way to end the first half,
Of a weekend we were so excited to share,
Of a weekend that’s meant to show mom how we care.
Then Sunday will come and kick-off round two,
And the girls will wake once the sun is in view.
To sleep in on a day like today is no choice,
When the excitement is simply too loud not to voice.
So early they wake, then it’s off to make brunch,
The bestest of meals, ‘tween breakfast and lunch.
The spread will be vast, with plenty choose,
From poached eggs, and salmon, to a fresh pizza too!
After we eat, we’ll head back to the car,
But this time we don’t need to go quite as far.
It’s off to a place the kids wanted to try,
A wonderful place where caterpillars fly.
We’ll walk through the paths, and build on our story,
At the Butterfly home – the conservatory.
An enchanting fine spot for an afternoon stroll,
The whimsy of it, just warms up the soul.
Finally, once we are back at our home,
There will be one more secret that’s yet to be known,
After dinner, and a few little gifts in between,
We’ll cap the day off with a scoop of ice cream!
A trip down the street, to a cute little shop,
To make our own sundaes, with goodies on top.
And just after that, well we’ve done all there is,
All the ideas, from the minds of our wonderful kids.
They do love their mom, there’s no doubt in that,
And not just this weekend, now that’s just a fact.
The love in this home lasts the entire year ’round,
It reaches the moon, and straight back to the ground.
But we’re just one home; there’s a world out there,
Full of so many mom’s deserving of care.
So on this occasion, I wanted to say:
I wish all moms today, the bestest of days.
