It’s time to be out

May 17, 2026

In a quaint little town at the edge of a quarry,
The loveliest place to kick off our story,
Sits a man and his thoughts on a slow moving morning,
Admiring the birds and the songs they’re performing.

The dew on the ground, gives a glistening sight,
As the sun greets the day with the first morning light.
There’s a full day ahead, with not much of a plan,
A rare kind of day for this deep in thought man.

“With what shall I do with this picturesque day?
Do I sit here and type, or do I go out to play?”
It’s a difficult thing for him to decide,
He’s committed to writing but it’s too nice outside.

“I know just what I’ll do”, thinks the clever ol’ chap
“I’ll jot down a few words then I’ll call it a wrap.
Not a full post, just a sentence or two,
Because readers of this, they should be outside too!”

“We wait the whole year for a day such as this,
From the snow and the sleet to this wonderful bliss,
It’s been cold for so long, so dreary and dark,
But we’re turning a corner, yes this is the start!”

“I see flowers and ice cream and the true signs of Spring,
And I don’t want to waste all the gifts that it brings.
This is no time to be stuck inside writing,
That sunshine and warmth is just far too inviting.”

So the man takes in a conmforting breath,
Then he closes his thoughts and gives them a rest.

It’s a day to be out, it’s a day to enjoy,
Not sit inside pondering what words to deploy.
So he’s off of the couch and to the outdoors,
Where a whole day is waiting just to be explored.
